Daughters of the Republic of Texas Thomas William Ward Chapter District X Monahans, Texas The Daughters of the Lone Star Republic was organized by Cousins Betty Ballinger and Hally Bryan. They conceived the idea in 1891 of perpetuating forever the memory of the Texas pioneer families and soldiers of the Republic of Texas by forming an association of their descendants. This organization would soon come to be known as the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. It was in this spirit that the Thomas William Ward Chapter was chartered on October 10th, 1998. Then in April 2000 we continued our with the growth of our Children of the Republic of Texas Chapter the Silver Hawks. Our chapters now work together researching Texas History.
