Awards Scoring

Achievement Award p.52 of Manual of Procedure

Credit is given based on completing the following eight items.

1. 12% is earned for net gain in membership of Chapter.

             Old members + New members - lost by death - transfers = Net gain

2. 12% if chapter sponsors a CRT chapter.

3. 12% for mailing Annual and Awards Reports to proper persons on time.

4. 12% if chapter members give talks, programs, demonstrations to a school or organization (other than DRT) on Texas and its people prior to 1900.

5. 12% for gifts (money, artifacts, relics, etc.) to DRT/CRT (Alamo, DRT Library, Museum, Cradle, French Legation Museum or CRT Scholarship Fund).

6. 10% for donating Texas Flag (or Six Flags of Texas or Texas Flag Pledge cards available at DRT Business Office) to school, library, etc.

7. 12% for giving historical map of early Texas, map set or copy of Texas Declaration of Independence to a school.

8. 16% for observance of Texas Honor Days at rate of 1.6% for each of the ten days honored. (listed on pg 6 of this book or pg 4-7 of Manual of Procedure)

Membership Award

This award shall be presented to each DRT chapter that collected dues for the entire chapter and had its final membership package in the hands of the Treasurer General by October 15. (Dues may be submitted with more than one remittance form but all dues must be received by the Treasurer General by October 15).


President General’s Project Award p. 54 of Manual of Procedure

To achieve a rating of 100% participation for this award, chapter must contribute at least one dollar per member.


Texas History Award p. 52 of Manual of Procedure

1. A chapter member must have written a book or article in published or unpublished manuscript form during the year chapter is claiming the award (since the last Convention). It must cover subjects in Texas history prior to 1900. Give full particulars about the publication.

2. The Texas History Teacher and Essay Contest are under the guidance and direction of the fifth Vice President General who selects theme for essays each year. Chapters of encouraged to sponsor all three contests (Outstanding 7th Grade Texas History Teacher Contest, Outstanding 7th Grade Texas History Student Essay Contest; Outstanding 4th Grade Texas History Student Essay Contest); however, sponsoring only one contest will satisfy the requirement for this project.

3. Marking of a grave by chapter or a chapter member with CRT or DRT memorial medallion will qualify chapter for this award. Grave could be that of DRT or CRT member, citizen, defender, or veteran.

4. The Chapter gave a book on some aspect of pre-1900 Texas history to a school or library.

Chapter Historian p. 77 of Manual of Procedure

The Chapter Historian shall document the chapter’s activities in history. If you do an activity for the chapter please take pictures and keep any printed material about the activity and the make a yearbook page (8.5 x 11) front and back, note names of people in the pictures, dates and the activity. Since the group doing the activity can best describe what went on, this will make for a better scrapbook and its fun too. Turn them in at the month meetings and the Historian can put them in the scrapbook
